AlphaFilings API

Last updated October 28, 2026 · Score v1

The Desk plan includes an API key for the same data the tracker shows: ranked stocks, every Form 4, 13F and 13D signal, insider cost basis and the fund and activist feeds. Create or replace your key under Account in the tracker. It's shown once.

Authentication

Send the key in the x-api-key header on every request, over HTTPS. Keep it secret: anyone with it uses your quota.

curl -H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" https://www.alphafilings.co/api/stocks

Endpoints

EndpointReturns
GET /api/stocksThe ranked list. Filters: source (funds, insiders, activists), sector, q, sort (score, recent, buyers).
GET /api/stocks/{ticker}One stock: score, rank, every signal with filed and traded dates, the score breakdown and EDGAR links.
GET /api/insidersStocks with open-market insider buying.
GET /api/fundsEach tracked fund's latest 13F and its biggest quarter-over-quarter moves.
GET /api/activistsRecent Schedule 13D filings with activist intent, with the filing's own words.
GET /api/feedThe filing tape: newest signals first.
GET /api/export.csvThe ranked list as CSV.

Rate limits

Each key can make 60 requests a minute and 5000 a day (the day resets at midnight UTC). Every response carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset (a Unix time). Past the limit you get 429 with a Retry-After header in seconds. The data changes when filings land, so polling /api/feed once a minute is plenty. Need more? Email us.

What the data is, and isn't

  • From SEC filings. Every signal comes from public SEC EDGAR filings and links to the original. Scores are our own ranking of how strong the filing evidence is (Score v1); a score is not a prediction or a probability that a stock will rise.
  • No market prices. Prices and anything computed from them (returns, market cap, moving averages, distance from the insiders' price) are licensed to us for display on the site only, so API responses leave them out. Insider average purchase prices come from the filings and are included.
  • Your use. Use the data in your own research and tools. Don't resell it, republish it as a data feed or share your key. Credit "AlphaFilings" if you show it to others.
  • Not advice. AlphaFilings reports what public filings show. It isn't investment advice.

Errors

401/402: missing key, or the plan doesn't include API access · 404: no current signals for that ticker · 429: rate limit (see above) · 5xx: our side; retry after a short wait.
